Security recommendations for plans and dates

Tips for your own safety

Peopall is not 100% a dating app because it can certainly be what you want it to be. The truth is that this doesn’t matter, because whether you’re going on a romantic date with a stranger or going out for a drink with a new group of people, you will always need to take precautions and stay alert.

Because there are no established rules in dating apps aside from the ones you set, and these should be some of them:

Protect your personal information and those around you

Even when you think you know the person or group of people you’re meeting with, never share your personal information with strangers. We are talking about your home and work address, your social security number and any details regarding your daily routine which could help people find you without your consent.

Do not share any bank details or send money

Yes, that movie on Netflix is 100% real. And you can also become involved in a scam or theft if you share any personal financial information with strangers.

If someone asks for money through Peopall, please inform us immediately so our team can investigate and take any necessary action.

We recommend to always chat through Peopall

Many people you meet will ask you for your phone number to continue chatting through other apps, but when you have the ability to chat in a group and also individually through the app, there’s really no need to take it anywhere else. Avoid sharing your phone number or your email address.

Notify any offensive behavior

If you detect any strange behavior or suspicious actions on the app, stop the conversation immediately and notify us. This may include: underage users, offensive messages, any form of harassment, fake accounts or any other behavior which you wouldn’t tolerate in real life. Block that user and report it to our team immediately so we can avoid that same thing from happening again.

Taking action: plans

When you chat virtually with someone it is important to set some ground rules, so you can imagine that before meeting face to face safety is even more vital.

Meet in public places

If you’re invited to a plan in a private house or any other place that isn’t easy to access, think about it twice. If they insist or pressure you a bit too much, finish the date or plan immediately.

Inform a friend or family member about your plans

It is never a bad idea to inform someone about your plans. Tell them about the person you’re meeting, the place and time. Always carry your phone with you and stay in touch with your people to make sure no one worries about you.

Never leave your personal belongings or your drinks unattended

Do not consume any drinks or substances from which you don’t know the origin, and never take anything under the pressure of someone else. The limits that you set for yourself will always be right. Your belongings need to be with you at all times.

If you're uncomfortable, leave immediately. Never hesitate!

If at any moment of the plan or date you start feeling out of place or uncomfortable, or even if you just change your mind and want to leave, do it! Let that friend or family member know that you’re leaving and do not think about it twice or feel any guilt about it. What you choose will be the right choice!

Consent: it goes beyond sex

As long as all of you know what you’re doing and agree to it, we can only be happy for you! If you notice someone is out of place during the plan or date or feeling uncomfortable or even if you are the one regretting your decision, do not feel bad about it. We can all change our minds and despite having agreed to something, you still don’t owe anything to anyone. You’re a free bird!

Protection and sexual health

Not all sexually transmitted diseases can be avoided by using a condom. While using condoms can protect you from certain STDs, there are other infections which are transmitted by direct contact. This is why it is crucial that you talk about sexual health before starting any intimate contact.

Direct contact with local authorities

Whenever you notice anything strange through the app, please know that you can contact us to act consequently. Everything that happens outside the app (in real life) you will need to directly notify and alert relevant authorities.
